Privacy policy
Last updated October 31, 2026
Scarlune is made by Hatch Media LLC, a Florida company ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Scarlune app for Mac, the Scarlune web app and this website. Questions: support@scarlune.com.
The short version
Scarlune runs on your own Mac. Your companion's mind (the AI model that writes their replies) and their voice run there, and your conversations, your companion's memories, and the files and photos you show them stay there. They are never sent to us. We receive only what we need to sell you a plan and keep it working: your email, your plan, your license status and whether you passed the age check.
What stays on your Mac
- Conversations and memories. Your conversation history, your companion's memories, journal, moods and personality notes are stored on your Mac. You can see and delete them in the app (Memory), or erase everything in Settings.
- Your companion's mind and voice. The AI models are downloaded once and run on your Mac. What you say and what your companion says back are processed there and are not sent to us or to any cloud AI service.
- Your voice. Listening happens on your Mac: speech is turned into text there, and your voice audio is never sent, recorded or kept by us.
- Files and photos you show your companion, and any folders you let them open, stay on your Mac.
- Email, calendar and reminders, if you connect them. Your email password is kept in your Mac's keychain, and your email, calendar and reminders stay on your Mac.
- Your Intimacy setting (adult content on or off) is stored on your Mac.
The cloud mind (Scarlune Plus and Max, or your own key)
On Scarlune Plus and Max, your companion's mind runs in the cloud (Settings → Mind → Think in the cloud; you can turn it off). Each message and what your companion needs to answer it (the conversation so far, its instructions and any memories it brings up) go through our relay to our AI provider, Featherless (featherless.ai), to write the reply. Our relay passes them on without storing them and keeps only a count of cloud messages per license and month, to apply your plan's allowance, never what was said. Featherless processes the request under its own privacy policy and data processing terms, and may use its own service providers to run it. If you use your own Featherless API key instead, requests go straight from your Mac to Featherless, and the key is kept in your Mac's keychain. Your memories, files, listening and your companion's voice always stay on your Mac.
What we receive
- License details: your email address, your license key, your plan, its status, and an anonymous identifier for each computer it's activated on (one plan covers two computers). We use these to deliver and check your license, and to help you with support.
- Age check result. Before adult content can be turned on, our age-verification partner checks that you're an adult, under its own privacy policy. We receive only whether you passed, never your documents, photos or date of birth.
- Payments are handled by our adult-content payment partner (such as CCBill or Segpay), which receives your payment details under its own privacy policy and appears on your statement. We never see your full card number. It tells us your email, plan, billing country and payment status.
- Support emails you send us.
Web search
If you let your companion search the web (Settings → Web search), the words it searches for are answered by Scarlune's own search index on our server. Pages it opens are fetched by our server, so websites see our server, never you. We don't log or store searches, pages or IP addresses, and your conversation itself is never sent. Our crawler, ScarluneBot, builds the index from public news feeds, Wikipedia and public web pages, and follows each site's robots.txt.
Finding places
When you ask your companion for a place, the words you asked for and the area to search are sent to our server, which looks them up in OpenStreetMap's open map data. We don't log or store these searches. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
Using Scarlune on your phone (web app)
If you turn on phone access, messages between your phone and your Mac pass through our relay server encrypted end to end. The relay only sees scrambled data, holds it for at most two minutes, and can't read it. If you create a sign-in for the web app, your Mac locks its connection key with your password before sending it to us; we keep that locked copy, your email address and a check value, never your password.
Counting visits to this website
We count visits to scarlune.com without cookies. When a page loads, your browser tells our server which page and what happened, which site sent you here, your language and the kind of device. Our server uses your IP address once, in memory, to estimate your country, then drops it. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted. This website remembers that you confirmed you're 18 or older in your browser's storage, on your device only.
The preview on this website
The preview of Lena plays recorded lines. Nothing you say or choose in it is sent to us; if you answer out loud, your browser's own speech recognition may be used, under your browser maker's policy.
Adults only
Scarlune is only for adults 18 and older (or older, where the law where you live requires it). We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used Scarlune, email support@scarlune.com and we'll deactivate the license.
Your choices and rights
You can see, export or delete everything your companion knows in the app. To delete your license and account details, email support@scarlune.com from the address you bought with. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to its use; we'll honor them.
Security and retention
License and payment status are kept while your plan is active and for as long as tax and accounting law requires afterwards. Because your conversations never reach our servers, we hold no record of them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
